DUPR
Grading your play
Your rating is based on the following: the games you play in, your reliability, who your playing partner is and who you’re playing against. DUPR is built for calibration, it is not about one game or one tournament – it’s the average of your performance over time.
Designed for new or developing players, this level focuses on building confidence with the fundamentals. You’ll work on mastering basic shots, sustaining short rallies, and learning the core doubles rules and scoring.
Typical DUPR range: 1.0–2.5
At this stage, players can sustain longer rallies, control ball placement, and use a wider variety of shots. You’re developing court awareness, making fewer unforced errors, and beginning to set up points with purpose.
Typical DUPR range: 2.5–3.5
Players at this level demonstrate consistency under pressure, stronger shot execution, and the ability to transition effectively from defence to attack. You understand strategy, can work as a cohesive doubles team, and apply tactical decision-making throughout a match.
Typical DUPR range: 3.5–4.0
This level reflects high-level competitive ability, including precision placement, fast hands, tactical adaptability, and strong control in both the soft and power games. Advanced players are confident in extended dink battles, counter-attacks, and dictating points at the non-volley zone.
Typical DUPR range: 4.0+
How DUPR rating works
DUPR is the player grading system used to categorise Pickleball players globally. It is a numerical rating that goes from 2.0, all the way through to 8.0. Novice players will typically find their rating falling between 2.0 and 2.99, with professional players reaching a DUPR of 5.0 and upwards.
